Reimagined Omega Class Destroyer - Babylon 5

This is my reimagined version of the Earth Alliance Omega Class Destroyer from the old Babylon 5 TV show.

I've loved this ship design ever since I saw the show back in the nineties. In 2011, I used Meurig's Omega model in my one and only ever entry in the Foundation 3D resource Appreciation Competition, which inspired me to start tinkering about with some ideas for a 'reimagined' version of my own.

Over the years I have abandoned and restarted this many times (this is actually my 18th attempt) and I have taken long breaks from working on it but perseverance pays off and I have finally finished the modelling. The texturing is very simple, I'll keep working on it but it's not something I'm good at so it's not likely to change much.

I did this image a while back but I just realised that I hadn't posted it here.

This didn't come out quite as I wanted but I'm calling it done. Two Earth Alliance Omegas in orbit over a small moon. Version with a border.
Done in Lightwave 2020 and GIMP.

I have wanted to do an image of the Omega firing its weapons for quite a while. This was a bit of an experiment trying to mix new and legacy volumetrics in the Lightwave 2020 renderer with quite a bit of work in GIMP. I'm pretty happy with how it came out

I’ve been experimenting with retexturing my Reimagined Omega Class Destroyer to make it look more like bare metal than the ‘painted’ look I originally gave it.
